All vehicles are equipped with a CD changer plug, usually located in the trunk / cargo area of the vehicle. The NEO - PODBMWV1S connects to the factory stereo system by plugging into this CD Changer plug. If you currently have a CD changer it will need to be disabled to use the iPod. Fortunately, switching back over to the changer is as easy as moving the plug back to the changer.
Since the NEO - PODBMWV1S is designed specifically for BMW vehicles, it connects without any cutting or splicing wires. The factory radio does not need to be accessed to connect this adapter. Since the adapter allows full text and control on the factory radio display, many users choose to leave the iPod in the trunk with the adapter. The adapter comes with a cable long enough to reach the front of the vehicle for users preferring to use the iPod itself over the factory radio controls.
